The Friends of All Saints …are celebrating their 15th year!
The pride of our local conservation area, All Saints' Church is designated a Grade 1 listed building by English Heritage. This brings constraints when dealing with repairs, often demanding expensive matching materials and labour-intensive methods. All of which means a weighty responsibility for the Parochial Church Council.
In 1985, with the Victorian church organ needing a major overhaul, a large-scale appeal raised enough money to make the project possible, despite its daunting cost of £77,500. The success of this appeal led to the idea of a separate team of supporters to help maintain the fabric of the church and in 1997 THE FRIENDS OF ALL SAINTS, WITLEY was established.
Over the past fifteen years, the Friends have contributed £57,858 to the £283,753 cost of repairs. Much of this has gone towards the essential but unexciting task of keeping the walls and roof watertight, but there has also been assistance with conservation of the early 12th century wall paintings.

You don't need to be a churchgoer to want to preserve this ancient building for future generations. Being a Friend is not expensive and your contributions will make a real difference.
